In episode fifteen of Future First, we take a look at how the space race helped to foster new international cooperation—even though it started up during the Cold War. The National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958, which created NASA, is just one example of that spirit of collaboration. The act states that "it is the policy of the United States that activities in space should be devoted to peaceful purposes for the benefit of all mankind."
